Ecstasy & Other Drugs Are Legal In Ireland Until Thursday

Ireland passed the Misuse of Drugs Act in 1977, effectively creating a climate where authorities and government set up a system to control illicit substances. These substances include the same controlled drugs as in the U.S., including ecstasy, ketamine and even crystal meth. However, thanks to a ruling by the Court of Appeals, the entire Act was deemed unconstitutional, effectively legalizing all previously controlled substances.

The Dáil Éireann, or in layman’s terms the Irish Parliament, will pass an emergency law later today to rectify the situation, but that won’t go into effect until Thursday.
