BLUUR Releases Thundering Bass Single, “No Warning” + Interview

Emerging from the LA house scene, BLUUR has become an exciting up and coming artist who continues to impress with every release. He’s performed with the likes of heavyweights MitiS and ARMNHMR, and even performed at the legendary Hollywood Palladium (Sept. 2021). In addition to receiving huge support from DnB phenom Reaper, 2022 was a milestone year for BLUUR. He signed his “IMY” remix with Bassrush and won the Insomniac Discovery Project, along with gaining support from the legendary Pasquale Rotella.

Now, he’s back with a thundering bass single titled “No Warning”, packed with a thumping bassline, blaring alarm noises, and endless energy. It seamlessly shifts between electrifying dubstep and bass house arragements, yet again showcasing just how talented of a producer BLUUR is.

“This is by far the strongest and most intense track I’ve ever released under my brand. I want this track to be the staple of my project.” – BLUUR

We also had the opportunity to speak with BLUUR about what’s ahead for this year along with his career thus far. Check it out below!

What was your initial reaction to winning Insomniac’s 2022 Discovery Project competition?
Extremely shocked, and happy.  I really thought Reaper would pick another DNB artist as the winner.  It brought me great joy when Reaper Facetimed me and said I won.  The joy was definately overwhelming and also validating.  Originally I was not going to submit to the Discovery Project because I thought my music wouldn’t even compete. Goes to show, you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.  So that being said, take your shot and let your art shine.
How did you come up with the idea for the alarm noises in the beginning of “No Warning”?
What effect do you think they have on the listener? The alarms were meant to wake everyone up, and get everyone’s attention.  “No Warning” is meant to have everyone on the dance floor dancing and vibing all the way to the morning.  I want everyone to have their moment to let loose in a safe, & welcoming environment. “No Warning” is an escape from all your work responsibilities, it’s an escape from all your problems that occur in your personal life.
How do the lyrics make you feel when listening to “No Warning”? What is the meaning behind them?
The lyrics are more so a message.  This moment right now, make it count as if it’s your last.  Together let’s rage, let’s create a welcoming environment, let’s have fun with each other in this moment on the dance floor.
What sparked the transition from melodic future bass to house music?
I love melodic bass music, but at some point I stopped enjoying the process of making melodic bass. I thoroughly enjoy the story telling, but the process of making the stories come to life and the end result wasn’t fulfilling anymore.  Especially during covid.  2020 was a time to go back to the basics and really enjoy the process of making music.  House music has always been my favorite genre of music, I just never really envisioned myself making house music.  Made like 3 song ideas in a week, and just showed my friends during covid, it was a no brainer, I had a talent and the house genre.
What techniques or parts of your identity in melodic future bass do you still utilize when creating house music?
I still believe the elements of the drum patterns I’ve carried over from Melodic Bass.  House is easy to get hats and claps going, but the intricate percussion sounds I add on to give my house music a darker vibe, is the same way I put in percussions on a brighter Melodic Bass track.
What were some of the highlights from your BLUURED Out charity event at the end of March? Why is supporting the End Overdose Organization important to you?
Highlights were that we raised over $1k in donations and support, which was a phenomenal achievement.  Furthermore, it’s important for everyone to be aware of this rising problem.  At any point, someone you might know might need you in the event of an overdose.  With the increase in accidental fentanyl and opioid overdose, I have a responsibility to create safe environments for any show’s I host, or even any shows I play.  I recommend you go to EndOverdose.net and receive their free course on how to identify and respond to an overdose.
Can you hint at any upcoming projects or touring announcements for your fans to get excited about?
Fun fact, No Warning is the first song of a 3 song EP. coming out within 2 months.  I wanted each song to breathe as if they were singles because all three have character and are the most intense songs to date. I have BLUURED OUT 2023 the livestream experience on Twitch coming out at the end of April as well.  On top of that, Las Vegas will be happening in June.  A lot of big plans, things in the works, my next goal would be a festival in the near future.
