16-year-old Greta Thunberg has become a rallying force in the fight for effective policy against climate change. Two weeks ago, she stood before the UN and gave a powerful speech admonishing policy makers for not doing more to protect the world for whom they will leave it behind. At the end of her speech, Thunberg says:
“We will not let you get away with this. Right here, right now is where we draw the line. The world is waking up. And change is coming, whether you like it or not.”
It appears that line in particular has caught the attention of UK DJ/producer Fatboy Slim, who just so happens to have a song called “Right Here, Right Now.” The mix originally appeared online in September when the musician David Scott mashed Thunberg’s speech with the song. Fatboy Slim posted the video to his Facebook page, and now he has apparently updated it himself and played it out live.
The result is nothing if not chill-inducing. It’s culturally relevant, exceptionally well mixed, poignant, and oh so powerful. I cannot even imagine the emotion in that room when he dropped it.
