Big-time musicians make bank. But how do their incomes compare to average salaries? Beyond eclipsing most salaries, musician income data may surprise you.
Magnetic Mag took the challenge to see how quickly the highest paid musicians in 2017 make an average salary. The publication took average salaries from five jobs:
- Truck drivers – $41,340/year
- Elementary school teachers – $59,020/year
- Registered nurses – $68,450/year
- Real estate brokers – $79,340/year
- Software developers – $100,080/year
Then, they compared those salaries to musician incomes to see how quickly those musicians earned those salaries. Plot twist: the sampled musicians made the above salaries incredibly quickly. For example, Calvin Harris would make the average truck driver’s salary in 2 hours and 43 minutes. The Chainsmokers make an average real estate broker’s salary in 18 hours and 17 minutes. Tiësto makes an average software developer’s pretty great $100k salary in a little less than a day.
