Notaker Changes Things Up with “Too Smooth”

Looking back on it, 2017 was definitely a landmark year for Notaker. With 2018 here, the Missouri-based DJ/producer can now reflect the last year of his musical career as a long list of achievements, with him releasing numerous successful singles on Monstercat (as well as a few on mau5trap and Armada), putting out his first concept EP, and even getting a feature in the Rocket League soundtrack.

Following such a successful year, it’s only fitting that Notaker would kick off 2018 by giving us one more reason to love him. Thankfully, his newest single gives us exactly that.

“Too Smooth” is a song that comes out of Notaker’s desire to continuously innovate and create fresh new blends of dance music. The song fuses Notaker’s distinctive brand of synthwave with some delicious indie flavor, and needless to say, the result is no less than impressive.

Assisted with a fitting topline by Grey MTTR, “Too Smooth” brings these genres together seamlessly with bright chords, playful guitar licks and an unbelievably catchy disco groove. While the vocals performance isn’t necessarily spectacular, it definitely helps hold this mixture together nice and tight.

If this track is any indication of what is to come, Notaker is going to have another great year.
