One of the dangers of throwing a festival in a desert is the heat, and Las Vegas certainly gets hot – it’s one of the main reasons why the festival starts close to sundown and goes until just before sun up.
However, the asphalt on the speedway retains heat and an excessive heat warning has been issued for this weekend into next week with temperatures reaching above 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
* TEMPERATURE…110-115 for the Las Vegas Valley and other lower * IMPACTS…A prolonged period of near record to record heat
desert areas, 120-125 for Death Valley, 112-122 along the
Colorado River Valley. Locally higher temperatures are
possible.
will create a dangerous situation in which heat illnesses are
likely; especially for the elderly, children, homeless, and
those unaccustomed to the heat.
Please remember to stay hydrated and stay safe.
