Coachella Set Times Are Out & The Major Dance Acts Are Moving Out Of Sahara

Coachella 2016 is only TWO DAYS AWAY. If the hype wasn’t already enough, Goldenvoice just dropped the official set times for the weekend. One of the things to take away from the set times this year is the lack of any substantial conflicts – sure, some fans will find conflicts in acts that they’ve been dying to see, but by and large, the team at Goldenvoice did a bang up job this year.

Another one of the details worth mentioning on the set times is how major dance acts are moving out of the Sahara Tent. It really started in 2013 with Disclosure moving out of Sahara and over to Gobi. The next year, Disclosure could have been found at the Outside Theater. Last year, 2015, you could find Nero, Axwell Λ Ingrosso and Flosstradamus at the Outside Theater.

This year, the three major dance music headliners aside from Calvin Harris, Zedd, Jack Ü, and Flume, are all closing out the Outside Theater each night (except for Disclosure, who have moved again to the main stage this year).

People have been noting that Coachella, over the past couple of years, has been transitioning from a mostly rock- and hip hop-oriented festival into a large dance music festival within the actual Coachella. People go to Coachella exclusively for the lineup at the Sahara Tent, and it seems that Goldenvoice is really beginning to capitalize on the EDM trend more than ever.

Seeing as this year features the festival’s first-ever DJ as a headliner, it will be interesting to see how the lineup of the festival in the coming years continues to transform and adapt to current trends.

On another note, it’s great to see some rising acts in dance music on the Coachella lineup this year. Louis The Child and Lemaitre will perform Friday; Snails and ZHU will perform Saturday; and then you have KSHMR with his Coachella debut closing out the Sahara Tent on Sunday! And aside from all the fresh faces, let’s not overlook the veteran acts: 2manydjs, Underworld, and Lucent Dossier Experience.
