As if to reaffirm the reasoning behind Thomas Jack’s recent fallout with all things tropical, Martin Garrix is just now biting into the genre. Locked away in the depths of the newly minted Garrix Lab, he’s uploaded a video clip that includes a snippet of audio from an unreleased track.
While it certainly packs the atmosphere we expect of a Martin Garrix tune, the spirit of the track is decidedly tropical. And though the quality is a standard phone recording, you can still hear aerated chimes and a popping lead play against a progressive synth backdrop. Martin Garrix has clearly expressed an appetite for any and all genres, and now that he’s free of Spinnin’ Records with plans for his own label, who knows where his sound is heading.
