If you were a fan of music in the 2000s, any kind of music, you likely heard RATATAT. Whether you started with Classics and “Lex” or the real classic Ratatat and “Seventeen Years,” their music had an undeniable charm to it. Mike Stroud and Evan Mast handle all of the sounds on their own, from percussion and strings to production and synthesizers.
“Cream On Chrome” is the first new music from the duo since 2010’s LP4 and it comes on the day of their performance at Coachella. They follow in the footsteps of Nero who released new music yesterday before their very own performance, and slayed the Outdoor Stage. Interestingly, Ratatat will be closing the Sahara Tent after Deorro – is this a sign that maybe their new set is a bit more heavy on the electronica? We’ll have to wait and see. They’re on the live stream tonight, Channel 3 at 12:15 AM.
