Mike Hawkins Releases Mini Doc; Announces New Project

The more I hear from Mike Hawkins, the more impressed I get. I must admit, I was a little late to the party; the first time I actually learned his name was 2014’s “Soldiers.” Though after some researching, I realized Mike Hawkins was also responsible for some of my other favorite tracks like 2013’s “Hot Steppa” with Henry Fong and Toby Green, as well as “Jump!” with Pablo Oliveros. In fact, there’s so much about Mike Hawkins hidden under the surface. In just two years he’s collaborated with the some of the biggest names in dance music, remixed for Martin Garrix and Zedd, and has had releases on Doorn, Size, Spinnin’, Hysteria, and most recently Fly Eye Recordings. As if that wasn’t enough of a resume, somehow Mike Hawkins also has his own label, Megaton Records. And yet, he still wants more.

Recently, Mike announced that in addition to his busy schedule, he’d also be launching his own podcast “Mike Hawkins Presents.” Though, unlike many podcasts from other DJs and labels, this podcast aims to focus more on new music from emerging talent. Producers can submit demos directly to the show, and select submissions might even be aired on the show. It’s just another way for artists to grow and learn from one of the best in the industry, who has a great desire to give back to the people that have supported him this far.

Having the opportunity to perform my music from far east Asia all the way to North America has been a dream come true, but I feel most of it really belongs to the fans and supporters. One of the things I felt was missing when I was coming up was an opportunity to have your music heard by a wider audience, and although my own career is still on the rise, it’s something I’d like to help provide the enormous talent mass out there. As most of the upcoming producers and artists will notice, in the end, this business is all about karma.

In conjunction with the debut of his new podcast, Mike Hawkins has released a mini-documentary chronicling his journey around the world, which we are exclusively premiering below. Take a quick glimpse into the life of a DJ, producer, label owner, Las Vegas resident, and starting tomorrow, a radio show host.
