It’s safe to say that LA’s D!RTY AUD!O has officially surpassed his “come up” stage and has stepped out from behind the curtain as a major player with the release of his debut Lifted EP on Steve Aoki‘s Dim Mak Records. As the title implies, the EP will take you from ground dwelling stagnation to booty bouncing in the clouds with three 808 ridden tracks.
To start things off, D!RTY AUD!O takes it down south for another collaboration with Atlanta’s Mr. Collipark (Grab a free download of D!RTY AUD!O x Mr. Collipark feat. Ying Yang Twins – Reverse). “Bring It Back” is a bouncy twerk tune that calls on old video game chip sounds for a nostalgic vibe but then pulls you right back to the present with contemporary synth leads that we’ve been hearing more and more in Parisian trap.
Next up is “Black Out,” a trap number with the greatest introductory lyrics of all time, “Woke up hung over / So I drink more Jack / It’s the only cure / If you need to yack.” It is pretty clear where the motivation for Yultron and D!RTY AUD!O to collaborate on this one came from. We’ve all been there. Hopefully, CBS news won’t pick this track up and think that EDM is a type of alcohol.
Rounding off the Lifted EP is another collaboration entitled “Happy Hour,” this time with rapper Will Brennan. The track is a downtempo twerk tune that gets straight to business in the first 8 bars. This one is a little more explicit to the style that we’ve come to know from D!RTY AUD!O: big dirty 808s, rapid fire percussion, and rowdy bass drops.
The Lifted EP is available on iTunes and Beatport now so preview the tracks below, grab your copy, and check out D!RTY AUD!O as he hits the road in support of the EP (dates below the embed).
