Are there any J Cole fans in here? Emerging bass music producer Justice Skolnik really caught my ear in the last few months of last year and with his first release of the year, a flip of J Cole’s “Light Please” he looks ready to build on that momentum.
The supreme vocal chops are definitely the first thing that really stood out to me. Justice Skolnik nimbly manipulates J Cole’s lyrics to either accentuate or tone down the intimate nature of the lyrics before showcasing his impeccable sound design with two delicately constructed drops. All in all, the producer does a good job flipping a modern day hip-hop into an upbeat future bass tune.
