This week’s Trance Throwback takes us back to 2009 for a vocal classic by two living legends. Dash Berlin and Emma Hewitt‘s “Waiting” has been out for almost 6 years now, and it’s still as good as ever. It serves as a great reminder to trance producers stuck in the ‘trouse’ hype: don’t fix something that isn’t (or wasn’t) broken; THIS sound is what should be playing during the main-stage trance sets.
“Waiting” is a track that really lets the Emma Hewitt’s voice shine through. The production itself is quite simple, but it provides a flawless backdrop for Emma’s stunning singing. Epic chord progressions work to bring the emotional vibes you’d expect from trance, mixed perfectly as to not overpower the vocal track. The climax delivers pulsing synths and a bouncing bass-line, all culminating into an explosion of feels. And to make things just a little better, the music video is pretty hilarious.
